    kitchen

    Hi,

I just purchased a new town-home, I haven't moved in yet but I would like some advice on how to change the kitchen. (I don't like the yellow on the walls). The floor is slate and i'll like to keep it.  I need some advice on backsplash other possible color for the walls, and possibly resurfacing the cabnets, and window treatments.  I tried to insert a picture but I'm having a hard time, perhaps someone can guide me through this lol.  The cabnets are light and the back splash also has yellow in it, there are California shutters in the kitchen as well.

thanks so much for your time.  Ana

Can you tell me what other colours you've got going on in your house?  Can you see other rooms from the kitchen?  If so, what colour are then, and do you want the kitchen to blend or stand out?    When you say your cabinets are light, do you mean a natural light wood, or do you mean that they are white/cream?  What colour is the counter?

You can paint your backsplash, if necessary.  I painted mine in my old house and it still looked good 3 years later when I moved out.

to add a picture, you have to first upload it onto a hosting site.  Once it's online, right click on it, select properties, and then copy the URL listed (usually under the title of Location).  Then, come back here, click on the little icon that looks like a tree (from the tools above) and paste the URL into the space provided.

Yep, that worked.  :)  I can see what you mean.  I tend to like yellow kitchens; but that's not a great tone of yellow is it?

Are tilesnatural stone?  They look like they could be.  Either way, I think that there's enough variation in colour in them that you can probably get away without changing them.

Since you've got such a dark floor and counters, I think I'd stick with a light coloured walls.  Depending on the look you wanted, you really could go with just about any colour.  You could go with a soft taupe walls for a traditional kitchen and then spice it up with red accents.  Or if you wanted something more modern, I'll bet grey walls would look really sharp.
