    My forsythia needs help!

I've had this tree for over 4 years. It bloomed the first 2 years and that was that! Last year I got fed up and cut it back to 3 feet off the ground. This spring it had 2 flowers on it. It's obvious that I'm not pruning the right limbs. If anyone knows if I should cut back the new shoots or the old ones, and how low do I go?

    Thanks a bunch!

We have a few forsythias on our property.  Sometimes they bloom and sometimes they don't.....it depends on the winter and spring weather, and how hardy the variety is that you have.  After they bloom in the spring you can prune them.  You should prune the old and thickest branches but I have actually pruned the whole thing back to about a foot off the ground (one of my plants is about 8 feet high and 8 feet wide).

    Good luck.
