    New Cityline Host

I just loved Jessica on today's show.  She has a good mix of intelligence, humour.  She can make us feel part of her life without pushing it too much.  She knows when to back off.  So far so good.  I also like the idea that she is not being recycled from other Citytv shows.

    Re: New Cityline Host

When I relate to Jessica, I immediately think of humour & full comedey. She came across a little stiff in comparison to her personna that I more familiar with. (the location shoot in her home with her hubby was more true to herself that I am more accustomed to)

But I am more thankful it was not a repeat.

I am not a fan of Jessica as a comedian but I was very surprise to see her on Cityline yesterday and I agree I thought she was GREAT! She knew when to back off etc. Great job Jessica!!

Rah, rah, sis, boom, bah.  Hated today's cityline guest host, Dina Pugliese.  Her over-the-top, over enthusiastic delivery is perfect for American television.  She is not a suitable replacement for Marilyn Dennis, even for a day.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I agree, Jessica seemed stiff and unnatural, almost nervous.  I got more and more uncomfortable watching her as the show went on.  I like but she needed to loosen up.  On the other hand Dina was better but too over the top.  Too overly enthusiastic...(phony).  Once again I was surprised because she is not that hyped up on Breakfast Television.  We also didn't need the shameless self promotion at the beginning. Marilyns magic was that she was very at ease and natural not nervous or too hyped up!  Lets see what else they will throw at us....its getting interesting again!

    Re: New Cityline Host

I just finished watching today's show with Dina hosting.

Yeah, Dina is lively to say the least. I don't often watch her in the morning so I did enjoy the full hour with her.

Of course, she is at ease behind the camera, her delivery is candid and comfortable albeit a little on the flamboyant side but that I believe is truly her character. Overall, I was impressed !

    Re: New Cityline Host

Thought to watch again today to see who they had as a guest host - well my least favourite host of course had the spotlight today - she is without a doubt the most annoying person on cityline and I dont feel that she knows what she is talking about half the time - although today with clothes and beauty she was more knowledgeable than usual - she just comes across too agressive or something - and please give me a break - there she was all size 4 of her talking about never wearing shorts and how she was all spandexed in!   Just hope they dont give her the job, as after some 15 years of cityline viewing Dina will make me give it up!

    Re: New Cityline Host

I do agree Marilyn will be a hard person to replace, but I didn't mind Dina on today's show. She is hyper, loud and funny and a true person. I think- who you see, is what you get, and I like that in her. We don't want someone who won't share their lives, disasters, whether in fashion or home decor, with us. To make the new host a part of our lives, this is what it takes. I'm sure if I look back and read the comments of when Marilyn started, everyone had comments and I'm sure they were not all good. Kudos to the staff for doing their jobs and having someone new everyday to keep us still interested. Most important thing is that, it wasn't a repeat!!

    Will keep watching from Mattawa!

    Re: New Cityline Host

I must agree with a BIG NO to Liz West.  I am a faithful viewer of Cityline and I will be no more if she is chosen as the new host.  To start off the show bragging about herself and trying to win the public over by sharing her diaper stories isn't going to work with those of us who knew what she was trying to accomplish.  Furthermore, she should be aware that she is speaking to an audience of mainly women, so the breasts hanging out of her top are not going to help her get the job.  She then criticized Mary Dobson's feature home by saying she didn't like the decor. Who made her the expert.  She does not know how to listen and is not right for this job.

Of all the choices for new host, the most down to earth and natural on camera presence would definitely have to go to Dina Pugliese.  She is the only one who does not lead you to belive that she is something that she is not.  Dina is the real deal and she is my choice for the new host of Cityline.

    P.S.  My mother agrees

    Re: New Cityline Host

So far, I have to agree with the guest host comments. As for today....gads I think that was the first time in about 15 years of watching I had to turn HOmeday off. I just can't take all that interrupting and a host seeming to feel the experts should be criticized. No thanks.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I didn't know her name was Liz West.  I can't recall having ever seen her before.  Is she really as dumb as she acted?  And showing that much cleavage is not at all appropriate for this type of show.  Her attire only made her look even more stupid when trying to use the stapler.  It just added to the impression she is a bimbo.

The comedian appeared to be a little out of her element the other day, but I think with time she would become more relaxed and be more genuine.

I have loved this show for many years and really hope they can get someone who can connect with the average Canadian woman.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I was quite taken aback when I saw Liz West on Cityline as Host.  I couldn't get over the neckline of her dress.   Very distracting for Homeday.

She talked over the guests and  I was very embarrassed for her.  I was also feeling very uncomfortable for the sake of the guests.  They are such experts and she felt that she had to "help" them out.

All in all a very poor showing as host of Cityline.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I agree with everything on the board today.

Dina Puglisese- I did not see that show.

Liz West- Was a disaster from the minute the show started. She was just to loud. I think her choice of dress was not a good one. She just looked totally uncomfortable. I would not watch this show anymore with her as host.

Jessica Holmes- I liked her. I think with time she could become a good host. I wish her luck.

Jennifer Valentyne- When I knew that Marilyn was leaving I thought well this was the end of watching Cityline for me, but with Jennifer on today I thought well maybe this will work. So far I really like her. She just seemed to fit right in, from the minue the show started. It was almost like having Marilyn back. I wish her luck in getting this position. All the best Jennifer
