    Peter Silverman et al

I have a feeling this post is going to trigger it's own deletion as I suspect that Rogers is not interested in any actual open discussion regarding the way Peter Silverman and the two people who worked with him were fired from their jobs at CityNews without even being given a reason.

He was not even told that "Silverman Helps" was being dropped. He was given no advance notice. He was not allowed to finish the cases he had already started working on. He was not given the option of being re-assigned. He was not offered any reason for his immediate dismissal.

Was he too old to be on-air?  Too popular?  Was Rogers in danger of being required to pay a pension he had earned?

In my opinion, he was treated totally without regard for his near 20 years of dedication to CityTV and CityNews. This only brings shame and dishonour to a station I have enjoyed watching for over 30 years.

As such, I think the city of Toronto should boycott CityNews until such a time as Peter and his team are re-instated.

    What do you think?

Mr Silverman has been a long and admired part of the news team.  Some one with too much power and not enough between the ears has made a few decisions  lately that leave the long standing viewers shaking their heads!!!

    Hi fellow members.

I had sent a similar post last week but it seems the station does not like " Constructive Critizem " as the post was cancelled.

The reason was that it was " Brand/ Negativity Bashing ".

I totally agree with this post and hope it does some good.

The story on Fridays new was very inconclusive as to what had happened.

As I said in my post " Big is NOT always better"

Good luck to Peter and his staff.

    He/they deserved Much better.

I am afraid we have not seen the end of the " Rogers" takeover.

Was wondering what happened to that post and now I know, it seems that Rogers is keeping the cheap help and getting rid of the good help.

Get rid of Kris, Kathyrn, Dina and Adree not the people that we've grown to love for so many years and next time cancel Silverman's show after he celebrates his 20th year not  weeks before, that was so lame and untasteful.

I actually thought he just retired.  I had no idea he was let go.  That's horrible.  He helped me out years ago with a moving company that was trying to rip me off.  He was wonderful.  We need him in the world of scam artists and corrupt people.  Company's fear him and that's a good thing.  I hope Ted changes his mind cause that was a huge mistake!

I sooo agree...I have started a PETITION FOR PETER SILVERMAN on FACEBOOK if anyone is interested in joining...I know it probably won't change anything...but at least it will let Peter know that there are people out there who care...

Please join...and show a true Toronto icon our support...the way he has always shown our support!

I don't think we should boycott CityNews but write complaints to Rogers. If the complaints to Rogers about the iPhone worked, maybe they'll listen about bringing Peter Silverman back.

    kasssss:
I still haven't gotten over Harold Hussein's departure ... why was that never explained/announced

Because the people who were responsible knew they weren't making a good move.

    Re: Peter Silverman et al

I guess Ted is too busy counting his money and calculating how much more money he has by firing Peter. Too bad we couldn't get everyone in Ontario to cancel their Rogers services but Ted would just walk away with his "SHAME MONEY".

    Re: Peter Silverman et al

I contacted Peter Silverman for help, strange as it might seem and he never replied back to me. I was complaining about the Al Green sculpture studio school cause I felt like they ripped me off over $500. for reasons listed here  http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5526450#post5526450 But I guess it's no big deal. He had better things to expose like somebody who purchased a faulty microwave. It would have been nice if he responded to my cry for help.
