Help with living/dining room furniture and paint

Hi I have just purchased a condo and really need some help with furniture and paint colors.  I will be purchasing a sectional sofa with a chaise.  Something similar to the ones linked below.  I would like a coffee table and tv stand both with some storage or space for wicker baskets.  The dining room table I like is also linked below ( not sure if the dimensions work yet)  The living room/dining room space is limited.

Does the kitchen being open affect the colors I chose in the living room?  What colors work best with the floors?  Also, should I consider changing the black splash from mirrored to tile?  Any help would be appreciated.  Paint colors, ideas for window treatments.  I'm completely lost!!!!  Please help!!!

    Thank you in advance,

    Marie

    Hi,

The condo is lovely.  Before you buy anything I would suggest that you live in the space (even if it means borrowing a few cheap chairs or sitting on big cushions for a few weeks) and just get a feel for your new home.  Very often people see furniture they like in a store, get it home & find it's too big, too uncomfortable or it just doesn't look right, likely it was "custom made" & can't be returned. Don't rush into any major purchase till you get a feel for the place. Keep all your furnishings as light as possible & consider eliminating a coffee table for an ottoman which can double as extra seating.  Look for a console for the T.V. which is long & slim anything tall would overpower the room, storage in baskets is a good idea.  I wouldn't change the backsplash, mirror is a great maximizer, spend your money elsewhere.  The paint colour looks fine, here again once you've decided on your main pieces, find a fabric you love & choose a colour from there.  A neutral sofa with a colourful cushion will be a good start.  Glass & perspect(see through) pieces help to maximize space & finally hang a huge piece of art over your sofa for impact.  Check out Peter Fallico HGTV to see if he has any tips on decorating small space.

    Good luck
