I am in the process of redoing my kitchen cabinets, they are 15 years old and are a white thermofoil finish. All of the cabinet makers that have come into the house have suggested replacing them with cherry cabinets. I have a medium oak trim & doors throughout the house and maple floors in the family room, living & dining rooms taht are stained to amtch the oak (Mercier Gunstock) . There is a tile floor in the kitchen, all the floors have recently been replaced. My question is this, can I use a different wood species such as cherry wood for the cabinets or should I stick to maple for consistency? Again there is no maple directly in the kitchen but the patio doors & window are trimmed in the oak and the dining room and family flank the kitchen.
