I just painted the shutters black on the house and now am wondering if I should change the colour on the front door and garage doors.  I don't want the 3 car garage to stand out too much.  Presently the front door is BM cottage red, the side lights, garage and window trim are BM R-9993 Turret, and the header above the door is Fairview Taupe HC85.  Any comments and suggestions would be appreciated!  Thanks! 

Those links aren't working for me, but my general rule of thumb is that the garage door (and passage door into the garage, if you've got that) should blend with the main part of the house as much as possible.  The front door, however, should stand out enough to have attention drawn to it as the main entrance.

Right now the garage doors do blend with the house and the front door is red so it does stand out.  Just wondering now with the black shutters if the contrast is just too much.  Would a different colour be better for the front door?   

Beautiful house!  IMO, the contrasting to the shutters is a wee bit much, especially since nothing else on the house is black.  I think I would tone them down a bit.   (I'm thinking a medium to dark brown in a reddish tone that goes with the house.)  I do like the colours of your garage doors and front door.
