    Re: New Cityline Host

I have not seen one replacement host yet that I think could be the permanent host.  I have been to dozens of live tapings of the show and Marilyn is as genuine in person as she is on tv.  She talks to everyone in the audience and is available to chat after the taping.

I forget how Marilyn was when she started but I'm sure she changed over the years to become the perfect host....someone who we felt was like us...our friend (after all the years of watching Cityline, I felt like I knew everything about her).

The problem with all these new possible hosts is that most of them are too young.  I don't think that my friends and I could relate to them.  We're all around Marilyn's age.  Maybe they need two shows....one for the young crowd just starting families, and one for the over 40 people whose children have left home.

I think Susan Yull should give it a try.  I like watching her on TSC (the shopping channel).  She seems to have a fun personality and I can see her doing all the different shows of the week.

    Re: New Cityline Host

At least on Monday the reruns come to end, still doing the rotating guest hosts.  4 days next week are people from CityTV hosting.  I do like when they've people outside of CityTV hosting.  Haven't seen Jody Vance or Elissa Lansdell get another try, both of them I thought did quite well.

I'm watching Jennifer Valentyne today & she's been my choice since day one.  GOOD LUCK JENNIFER I hope you get the job. I'll be watching. Yes Big Smile

    Re: New Cityline Host

I agree with baysgirl. Jennifer Valentyne has been my choice since Day One also. She has done three shows and is only getting better. She has way more experience with the others and seems to have great chemistry with the experts. She is funny and that's huge.

I think the part about this show that I've always loved was the chemistry between Marilyn and all the experts. It was like a group of friends getting together for coffee. It will take time for a new person to develop that but Jenn is off and running. I think she is genuine and not full of herself at all. She is confident because she has been in the business for 20 years.

    Re: New Cityline Host

Just watched today's show with Stephanie Beaumont and thought that she was delightful. I didn't really pay attention to her when she was on the first time but thought that she had the sparkle and humour that this show needs. I liked her recovery from her faux pas and her self deprecating humour - a quality that we all love in Marilyn.

I've been rooting for Jenn Valentyne all along but I think that Stephanie could really do a good job as well. Looking forward to tomorrow's show with her and Sandra.

    Re: New Cityline Host

Just pick the new host before we all get bored of seeing too many women trying too hard to be the best host! Why are they being so indecisive?  It doesn't matter who they pick there will always be someone who doesn't like the new host, the only way Marilyn can be replaced is by cloning her. So just start fresh and pick someone who is not necessarily exactly like Marilyn was.

My vote would be for Jenn Vallentyne but I know not everyone would agree.

Stephanie Beaumont is a super fit for CityLine!  Finally a host who doesn't talk like she knows everything, and she even asks the questions the audience is thinking.  Simple and lovely.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I'm inclined to agree with janine007 about Stephanie Beaumont. She is lovely!!! and is probably the best candidate.

I love the fact that she is so interested in the topics and really seems to be down to earth and connected to the audience. At first I thought that she was too young but googled her and found out that she has a commerce and finance degree from Western and is an established country music star as well as co-host of the Ottawa morning show. With all that going for her she seems amazingly modest. I would definitely enjoy watching her on a daily basis. Apparently she also has a passion for interior decorating, cooking and shopping. What could be better for Cityline!!! Love her sense of humour also.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I am sorry, but I don't think Stephanie will be a good fit....she never stopped interrupting Sandra.  You could tell that Sandra was getting frustrated with her.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I think the absolute best choice is Jennifer Valentyne.  Stephanie seems like a nice woman, and I do like Jody Vance, but Jennifer has the necessary humour, interviewing skills and natural appeal that are necessary on Cityline.

If its anyone else, I won't watch.  I MISS MARILYN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: New Cityline Host

    Me again:

I must say that after Thursday's show I was all enthused about Stephanie Beaumont but when she returned on Friday she was really getting on my nerves with too much chatter and perkiness.

Granted she is probably nervous but still we need someone on this show that we can watch on a daily basis and right now I think the only person that would be for me is Jenn Valentyne.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I really miss Marilyn - the show is just not the same.  I use to make a point of watching in - now its only occasional.

What is Dini Petty doing????  She would be great
