I also have to say, this is the least Cityline that I have watched in almost 20 years!!! Cleaning my house seems to be a more appealing alternative!!

    Re: New Cityline Host

I thought I was the only one who thought she was talking too much! I understand she is trying to make an impression, and it must be hard to show us everything she has got under such pressure, but she needs to let the guests speak.  She throws off the rhythm of the whole show with her constant talking over the guests.  I had to turn it off the second time I saw her on the show.

I think no matter who they choose, they are definately going to lose some of the loyal viewers who think if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    Re: New Cityline Host

    But the show is broke!!

Marilyn defined the show and that is exactly why this process is taking time.  I think people who are pushing for a quick decision on the replacement host are making a mistake.

Much easier to make sure the candidate is the right one rather than fire the wrong host with an existing contract.  Measure twice, cut once.

Let's see everyone on the shortlist twice.  That list needs to include Jodi Vance, Stephanie Beaumont, Kathryn Humphries and Tracey Moore.

However, they may not all be interested in the job.  I heard on the grapevine that Dina P does NOT want Cityline.

    Re: New Cityline Host

Marilyn Dennis will be hard to replace, but I think Jennifer Valentyne has the spark.   Stefanie Beaumont was pretty good too.   The one on Thursday with Karen and Mary Dobson was terrible - she interrupted and talked over them.

My vote's for Jenn or possibly Stefanie - would like to see more of both.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I agree that Jennifer Valentyne is not the best choice. She does not seem to have the same poise or genuine personality as Marilyn.

Cityline producers: Please choose wisely! I've been watching Fashion Friday for 15 years and don't want to give it up!

    Re: New Cityline Host

Watched Cityline today with guest host Stephanie - she would be GREAT.  I used to watch her on the Ottawa breakfast program.  It was hard to see her personality on just one show, but I think she would be a lot of fun, and isn't "full of herself" like some of the others came off.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I vote for Stephanie - she was a bit nervous I think for the first show, but is so down to earth - she would definitely grow into the role.  Not pretentious at all!!

    Re: New Cityline Host

That's weird, I watched Cityline today and yesterday, both were re-runs with Marilyn hosting. It was so nice to watch those shows, I'd be more than happy to continue to watch Marilyn re-runs until they choose a new host.

I'm tired of the revolving door of hopefuls. Pick one and let us get used to her!

    My votes are:

    1-Jodi Vance

    2- Tracey Moore

    3- Jenny Adams

    Re: New Cityline Host

I agree, names and faces would help me with some of the new ones.

    Liz West

Nice boobs, but she has nothing to add to the situation.

She needs to shut up and let the smart people talk.

    Dina Puglisese

Too over the top,  too loud, too shiny…has no authenticity with the city line audience.

She's a deal breaker for me.

    Jennifer Valentyne

    Real, relevant and relatable.

    She has spark.

    She can read and adlib

I like her and think that she will get better.

3 votes in my house for Jennifer.

    Re: New Cityline Host

okay, how about Susan Hay, the meteorologist....weather girl....on GOBAL TORONTO. She is aways perky, happy, continues to sound very interested throughout when hosting the T.O. Santa Claus parade...that can't be easy....., spokesperson for a number of charities, pretty....

Do we know that CITY actually reads these forums and MAY take our suggestions to heart?

    Cheers,

Don't know about Susan Hay, But I can relate to Jennifer, just watch her on Breakfast Televison.  She responds so well to everyone. She gets my vote.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I totally agree with steven70's analysis. I've watched all these auditions and think that Jenn Valentyne is the only one I could live with. Maybe she was trying a little too hard on the 2 days that she hosted but that is understandable.

On BT she is very funny, down to earth and relates well to everyone. I think if she got the job she would settle in and become as comfortable with the audience as Marilyn was.

Personally I think the new host has to have some sparkle and humour - not over the top enthusiasm or arrogance like some of the candidates. Jenn has a lot of broadcasting experience in all the areas that Cityline features - renos, cooking etc. She also looks good which sounds superficial but it goes with the territory. I can't picture those other ladies doing the "Girls Night In" (my favourite show of the year!!!

After watching a few reruns I notice that Marilyn's sense of humour and willingness to poke fun at herself are her most endearing qualities - not to mention her ability to ask great questions and get all that great information from the experts without overshadowing them.

Jenn has my vote!!! I haven't seen her with Lynn Spence, but she certainly seemed to click with Sandra Pittana, Brian Gluckstein and Karen Sealy.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I would pick Liza Fromer - the former Breakfast TV host and now on Slice.  I do not watch Breakfast TV as much without her - the new host is full of life but she just goes on and on and on.  Liza has the knack for being outgoing but not overdoing it.
