"Fashion Friday" June 20- So Excited!! Is Anyone Else Going and...

Hello "Cityline" LoversSmile I taped our Beloved Marilyn's final show & have re-watched it several times. I truly hope, with all my heart, that she has success in her new 'adventures.' I feel she's been a part of my life for all of these years:)  Prior to her departure announcement, I received tickets to June 20th's "Fashion Friday." I'm thrilled, as is my 15 year-old daughter. I watch "BT" & know who Jennifer Balentyne from the show: she seems funny, genuine & a real sweetie. The show should be ' simply fabulous!!' Is anyone else attending this show? If so, we'll see you there. I'm the blond, 44- year old who  has a very snazzy cane (need a knee replacement & ironically it's the ONLY thing I'm too young for- ha!) Ironically, I've only ever  attended one taping; it was 15 years ago. I went with my sister-in-law and my 5 month old niece. The wee one was featured on a swing (it was 'Family Day!) We had a wonderful time. So...I've waited nearly 15 years for this opportunity & nothing, not even the 3.5 hour drive through rush hour & my 'bum knee' will stop us 'fashionistas!' It's a gift to ourselvesCake I'll let you all know how the show was one the weekend. I'm tickled pink:0 bookdiva & daughter (a.k.a. Kelly & Shannon L)

Oh "sammycat19," "The best laid plans, of mice & "women," how soon they go astray!" As for June 20th's show...what a bloody mess it turned out to be!! Broken HeartWe live about 4 (traffic) hours away. My daughter & I left @ 4:30 A.M.!!! only to deal with  three huge jams on the 401. Long, sad story short, we were late. Like wee losers, we actually, finally  DID make it to the Chum bldg. in the 'pathetic' hope that we may be able to get in during a commercial break. It was about 10:20. It was too late. So, we were so 'blue' we just had a quick lunch & sooged through the eastbound traffic. My girl, Shannon, slept most of the way; IPod attched, of course:)  When we got home there was further disappointment; my daughter (15 on Aug. 24th) saw that "TNT" was featured on that show (we'd taped it). I personally wanted to be there for ALL the fashions! Hey, I'm 44 & it was all right up my alley. But, here's the absolutely fabulous part. We got a call from "Cityline" & have been re-scheduled for Aug. 22nd!! My daughter turns fifteen 2 days later so, I think I'll redeem any points I can scrounge up & book a hotel the night before. She'll be so excited- kind of turn it into a 'surprise' birthday 'getaway!'  (actually, that will BE her present:) Hey, $'s tight in our home (like most). Anyway, we'll top it off playing "Fashionistas" at "Cityline"  the next morning. I do hope that there are freebies- this trip is gonna cost me a small fortune$$ (especially since it's my second attempt:) I'm really looking forward to the show. Hey, it's "Fashion Baby!!!" Yes, I will definitely give you a 'shout out!'- I'll be the blond with the flashy cane & dark-haired daughter beside me;) Ahh, what we do for 'fashion'- ha! I thought that "Cityline" was very kind to do this; they knew we showed up late, exhausted, (me), and spent all that gas & parking $$ on 'lunch!' So, wish us 'good luck' this time 'round. I am serious about the hotel- I simply cannot do the 4:30 thing again & have it happen all over again. Plus, talk about a great birthday present for a hard-to-buy-for 15 year-old teen!!! CakeAll the best & thanks for your sweet note, bookdivaBig Smile

I was waiting patiently for your update/reply.  Sorry, it didn't work out as originally planned :(

But you did get some postive news. You know, sometimes things do happen for a reason. Perhaps the show will be a better one & with fab take home gifts. You will find out soon enough.

Any ideas where you are going to stay ? I can give you some high end and lower end ideas. More emphasis on lower end to save buck$ !!!!!!!  Especially these days !!!!!

Waiting to hear from you shortly :)

Dear Sammycat! I'm soyrry to be so late in replying to your generous offer. Between work, family & life (x 100!), I haven't checked out the site lately. Yes, I'd really appreciate some hotel suggestions for our Aug. 22nd "Cityline" show taping. Less expensive but relatively close to the Chum City bldg. would be great. Your kindness is sincerely appreciated. Truly. Good karma always comes back to you...in one form or another:) Cheers & talk soon! bookdiva

Re: "Fashion Friday" June 20- So Excited!! Is Anyone Else Going and...

    Hi,

........closest to the CHUM bldg............I think of the Hilton hotel which is downtown west and walking distance. Of course, will be pricey and will expect the luxes that will be featured as tastefully decorated rooms, top notch accomodations that come with this chain of hotels.  (probably the guests of the show are put up there) but if budget is a concern, and itsn't it always ???........King St. West just behind the CHUM building, a little bit more walking but doable (in your particular case with your cane, you may wish to grab a cab which won't be too pricey because of close distance) you will find the economy Traveloge hotel. Certainly a modest 2 story building which has parking for cars and the rooms are standard. But the cost will be too !  From the money you save, you can spend some cash in the WINNERS store on the corner !!  If you need anymore info,..................just shout out !!!!!!!!!!  I will try to help ya out :)

Hope you are still able to go to the taping and cannot wait to hear your scoops !!!!!

    /SAM

Re: "Fashion Friday" Aug. 22- thanks dear 'sammycat!'

    Dear sammycat19

  • You are so thoughtful, kind and very helpful!!! I'm going to go with the Travelodge that you suggested. You're right- for what we save in accommodations, we can $pend @ 'Winners'
  • Big Smile Ahh, to find a like-minded 'friend' on the forums is invaluable to me, especially because this show is a part of Shannon's birthday present. Truly, I can't thank you enough for your wonderful help! Rest assured, you'll get all the 'scoop' on the show.                                                                                                                                                                                       It looks like the segment should be interesting- I wrote a post about the content; Stephanie Beaumont is hosting & I really enjoy her. My soon-to-be 15 year-old is counting down the days...so am I!! This is the 2nd time I've been to "Cityline."  Yup, I'm showing my age because the last time was with my sister-in-law & her baby. My niece is now 14:) Hey, don't get me wrong; I love my 40's- it's the most 'free' & self-assured I've ever felt. I'm turning 45 @ the end of September & I am simply grateful to be healthy, content & surrounded by fabulous female friends & terrific family! I dress for me & do a pretty darn good job. And, I feel that I look rather grand 'still' tooWink (Note: I did not say 'for my age:)  I simply feel far more comfortable in 'my own skin' & with who I am now than when I was in my 20's/30's.                                                                                           Again, thank you so much for your help & we'll 'talk' soon.                                                                                                                              All the Best, bookdiva (a.k.a. Kelly)
