Re: Suggestion for a new host - NOT DINA!

Come on guys not Dina - I cant even watch BT when she is on it - half the time she doesnt do her homework when she is interviewing, asks stupid questions and in general makes pretty women look stupid.  My hubby says she is nothing if not annoying.  I am very sorry to see Marilyn go, but if Cityline is going to continue then hopefully they can get someone who will at lest give Marilyn's hostess skills a run for the money - or Cityline for me will go the way of BT!

Re: Suggestion for a new host - NOT DINA!

Erin Davis doesn't sound like a bad choice! On the CityLine they posted who the guest hosts are going to be! So they will be: Comedian Jessica Holmes from CBC's Air Farce Live, BT Toronto's co-host Dina Pugliese, CityNews Toronto's Entertainment Specialist Liz West who has been maternity leave, and BT Toronto's Live Eye Host Jennifer Valentyne. I am excited to see who will be next week's co-hosts. In my opinion they need another older co-host like Marilyn. I mean though I am a male I feel like CityLine is directed towards a female audience who are not fratgirls. If you are a fratgirl it's all good. But maybe these 4 guest hosts will grow on us and I look forward to see who else they use. Once again I hope they give Erin Davis a shot, Anne Mrocsowski, Jee-Yun-Lee, Laura Dibatista, Pam Seatle. But we also need to remember that they may not able to use a guest who is under contract with CTV or Global per se. I believe CBC is public!

    Comments anyone?

Looks like we will get to see what some of the prospective hosts are going to be like this week. I am not going to comment until I see all of them.  Keeping my fingers crossed in anticipation that Cityline will get back on track!

    Evalina:

I imagine if Marilyn's last day is May 23 that Cityline has already picked a new host. If not, I wonder how Liza Fromer would do. I believe that she already has a show of her own on another channel, but maybe she would like to do Cityline.  I know that she was underused on breakfast television. My husband and I stopped watching breakfast televison when she left because the show seemed to try to force itself to be younger and hip to coincide with Dina but it feels forced to us. Liza and Kevin had a more natural rapport going on.

Liza is very bright and was a skillfull interviewer who dealt well with all types of guests and subject matter and she had a sense of humour that did not always refer back to herself.

If Liza is not possible, then I would like to see a host who has a real interest on the topics discussed. Marilyn does an absoloutley fabulous job hosting even though she makes it clear that she does not like to cook, sew, or decorate.

Still, it would be great to have someone who has a great sense of humour and doesn't take things too "martha stewart", but who nevertheless has some knowledge, interest and even some talent in some of the topics at hand.  I am a little bored with the same old that the show is dishing out.

    My two cents, Evalina

The whole story is very exhausting. But pretty much her radio station CHUM was bought out by CTV and Citytv which airs CityLine was bought out by Rogers. So she couldn't work for both networks and had to choose. So CTV said if she stayed with them she would get her own self titled show. We all know CTV would offer Marilyn better opportunities. So I agree the show isn't the same. I dislike Dina but at the same time I think she would do very good!

Oh no, not Dina, PLEASE.  I won't get into the reasons why, but I agreee, BT is hard to watch these mornings.  If I didn't love the show so, I would have stopped watching ages ago.

City Line is too important to replace Marilyn with someone other than a topnotch host.

I watched Liz West today and I thought she did a great job.  She was personable, had great interactions with Mary and Brian, and asked intelligent questions.  I think that she would bring a great flair to the show and would appeal to a wide range of people.

I also watched the show today and felt very uncomfortable with the way Liz West talked over the two guests.  It was so difficult to understand what they were trying to say as she wanted to have her input into everything.  Not a good host for this show at all.  I loved Marilyn's style.

I did see Dina yesterday and was  more impressed with her.  I do feel that a more mature person is needed.  Please!!!

I really enjoyed Liz! I think after they get the feel for the hosts they then need to narrow it down and then choose from them! Too bad viewers couldn't vote!

Re: Suggestion for a new host

I thought Liz West did a great job.  She was really charming and funny and seemed down to earth.  Her style reminds me a bit of Marilyn.  She talked over the guests a little bit, but she was probably nervous and for her first time I thought she was really likeable and would only get better.  Dina was pretty good too, but I like Liz the best.

Re: Suggestion for a new host

I too felt she talked over her guests making it difficult to follow.  Lisa Rogers is another one that does this. Actually ends up sounding like a shouting match and really does make you want to hit the mute button!!

Let the experts speak....that's what we tune in for!!

No one will replace Marilyn in my opinion, but I said that about Dini.....that's how long I have been watching!
