Maybe we should have a vote? Or maybe if we did Jennifer would win by a landslide.  The pro-Jennifer camp recognizes her talent, smarts, humour, and personality.   Jennifer has done more in broadcasting than Elissa, Catherine and Barb put together.  I'm sure those 3 ladies would bring higher ratings than JV.

Has anyone just watched the show with Catherine Marion?  Cityline staff, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?  Is this a joke? You'll loose so many viewers if you keep having her on.  I just can't believe she's still in the running.  Not much smarts nor talent there!  Today's show is probably the last one I'll be watching for a while.  I've had enough.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I totally agree with you. I don't even have the show on which is unusual for me. I too can't believe that Catherine Marion is still in the running - she has to be one of the worst candidates. If Marilyn is watching I'm sure she would agree. It is an insult to her that they are even considering someone who is so totally phoney and uncomfortable to watch.

Marilyn's forte was her self-depracating humour and her marvelous chemistry with the experts and the audience. Jenn V. has this as well.Big Smile Granted Jenn is 9 years younger than Marilyn but that is probably good. She is hip, smart, funny and makes you feel that we are all part of a great show. Tracey has also done a solid job and I like her on BT as well but my vote is for Jenn!!

It's a good thing you didn't watch today because it was not only an insult to Marilyn, but more importantly it was an insult to the viewer.  I watched in total disbelief.  I don't know who they are trying to target with a host like Catherine but it surely isn't me.  The audience didn't seem too fond of her either.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I thought Catherine Marion did a great job today. I only hope that she and all of the other guest hosts do NOT read these posts. I can't believe how nasty some posters are becoming. It is just awful.

I'm a viewer that is not insulted by Cityline for any of their choices for guest hosts.  Even if these ladies are not on my "short list" of favorites. I think that they are giving us a good mix of personalities with their own take on the hostess "duties". I am however, insulted only by the posters that seem to be quite melodramatic  when voicing their own opinions.  Surely, there must be a more eloquent way of  expressing yourselves ladies! Shame, shame, shame......

At this rate I'm surprised that anyone still wants to host a show for a bunch of _itchy, cranky, and verbally abusive viewers!

    Re: New Cityline Host

I agree. If CityLine thinks viewers can identify with Catherine Marion they are sadly mistaken. She exemplifies everything we are not! The me, me, me and more about me chit chat is torture to listen to. She's gotta go!

    Re: New Cityline Host

She is not my first choice, but reading through the numerous emails on topic, I had to write also.  I am a long time fan of Cityline and tuned in for the most part for home day with Marilyn for years.  She is a hard one to replace and it is taking some time to find the right one. There is one out there.  I don't think they should rush it. I believe the key ingrediant to be a Cityline host is a natural sense of humour, at ease with the camera and who is entertaining.   Simple as that...

Remember Regis and Kathie Lee.  They replaced her with Kelly Ripa who is hysterical.

    Can be done.

    Yes you are so right!!

We want an excellent sense of humour.  I really don't care too much about age or looks - just MAKE US LAUGH.

The news is bad and sad all around.  We want and need to laugh.

A real funny lady - PLEASE!!!!!  Do we want flakey or a lightweight?  No way.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I started to watch Cityline yesterday and found Catherine Marion to be very nervous and out of her element. I immediately changed the channel. I like her on the Mom Show but not on Cityline.

I don't know who is doing the hiring for Cityline but obviously they're in no hurry to pick the right person.

Jennifer Valentyne is the best fit for the job but the producers seem to be going around in circles.

Are you sure Jen is nine years younger than Marilyn?  I'm sure there is at least a fifteen to twenty year difference there.

    Re: New Cityline Host

Yes, I'm sure about the age thing because Jen said the other day on BT that she is 41 and we know that Marilyn turned 50 on July 1st - she talked about her age a lot.

We're all rooting for this show to continue being as terrific as it always has been and you are so right about the need for someone funny and fun. To me it's like getting together with friends for lunch or coffee when the chemistry is good on the show.

When the chemistry between the host and the audience and experts is not there, the show is not worth watching.

Still think that Jenn is by far the best in all categories. Can't imagine them finding anyone better.

    Re: New Cityline Host

WOW here it is Oct 2nd  & still no mention of a new host. What's going on?  Is this the way it's going to be different hosts. I can handle that.. Better than having a host you don't like on all the time. Like Kimberley Sheldon. I couldnt handle her. Now I just look and see  whose hosting before I settle down to watch it.

I'm not really a big fan of the one that's on today. I can't remember her name. I could handle her if they have a different host all the time but not as a regular host.

Come on Cityline let your veiwers know what's going on here before you lose them all....

    Re: New Cityline Host

I enjoyed today's host, Tracy.  She doesn't make it all about herself and asks questions for the viewer at home.  I'm surprised to see that Catherine will be hosting again next week (twice!).  From reading these posts and talking to friends and co-workers she's certainly no one's top choice.  She isn't one of my favorites either.  I do like Jennifer and look forward to seeing Karen Sealy.

I think that if they haven't picked anyone yet it's because they haven't found the perfect fit for the show yet.  I just wish they wouldn't keep hosts around that no one seems to enjoy.  I didn't see Kimberly Seldon hosting but I always enjoyed her as a guest.

    Re: New Cityline Host

I too am surprised to see Catherine Marion back twice next week. Not my choice at all - as somone said "too LA for Toronto". She definitely does not have that special connection to the audience or the experts that we have all loved over the years. A while ago it seemed like they were favouring Jenny Adams and although she was competent, I didn't like her because there was no chemistry and it seems like she has fallen by the wayside. The same thing is wrong with Catherine - no chemistry and she seems to be too "high maintenance" to appeal to the average viewer.

Tracy Moore is very polished and professional and I can see why she is in the running. That said, I'm still pulling for Jenn as she is the only one that I would want to watch every day!!

My favourite shows are the Girls Night In, Makeover Madness, and the ones on health and fitness. I cannot imagine Catherine Marion doing a good job with those shows. Cityline is going to lose a lot of viewers to the new Marilyn Denis show if they don't pay attention to the feedback from the viewers.

    Re: New Cityline Host

Wow... That was pretty harsh. I love Karen Sealy and thought she did a great job. She is a designer--not an actress and I thought she did terrific. In fact I hope to see more of her.

    I love her laugh.
